Bite of a chocolate yogurt popsicle.

Yes, I actually get excited about fall and all things cozy, but I truly love summers with my kids and am sad that school has started back up. I want to hold on to every last bit of summer and one way I'm doing that is sharing yet another delicious summer popsicle recipe!

I made these chocolate yogurt popsicles many times this summer and my kids and I love them so much!

These popsicles are made with yogurt (I used dairy free), sunbutter and cocoa powder and sweetened with maple syrup. I coated them in a dark chocolate shell, but have also made them without and they're great either way.

You'll love that these chocolate yogurt pops are paleo, vegan, keto friendly AND nut free! They're great for most diets and perfect for anyone with a lot of food intolerances or allergies. Plus, they're easy to make.

Why You'll Love these Chocolate Yogurt Popsicles

    • paleo and vegan - made with simple, wholesome ingredients you can feel good about
    • keto - swap the maple syrup for a liquid sugar free sweetener to make these popsicles keto friendly
    • nut free - made with yogurt and sunbutter
    • easy to make - blend all ingredients in a bowl, pour into a popsicle mold and freeze!

    Ingredients

The full recipe for these chocolate yogurt popsicles can be found in the recipe card below, but here's an overview of the ingredients you'll need:

    • yogurt - I used coconut yogurt, but any type will do. The yogurt can be thick or on the runnier side.
    • sunbutter - this gives the bars a thick, creamy texture. I don't recommend leaving it out, but you can swap sunbutter for any other nut or seed butter or even coconut cream.
    • maple syrup - to sweeten the yogurt bars. For a keto version, swap maple syrup for a sugar free sweetener.
    • vanilla extract - for flavor
    • cocoa powder - to make them chocolate
    • salt - enhances the flavors
    • chocolate chips - for the dark chocolate coating
    • coconut oil - to thin the chocolate for the chocolate coating

How to Make Chocolate Popsicles with Yogurt

These popsicles are made in a bowl, poured into a popsicle mold and then frozen. You can dip the frozen bars in melted chocolate or go without - either way they're delicious! I made these using miniature silicone popsicle molds.

    Here are the steps:

Mixed chocolate yogurt popsicle ingredients in mixing bowl.
    1. Mix all filling ingredients in a large mixing bowl.
Fudge pop filling in popsicle mold.
    1. Pour mixture into the popsicle molds, filling each slot to the top. Add popsicle sticks.
Taking the frozen popsicles out of the molds.
    1. Place the bars in the freezer for at least 6 hours, or until frozen.
Chocolate dipped yogurt popsicles on parchment paper.
    1. Optional: dip in melted chocolate.

    Tips and Tricks

    • Freeze completely - let the filling freeze all the way before dipping them in dark chocolate. I prefer overnight, but 6 hours should be good enough.
    • Use silicone popsicle molds - these molds make is SO easy to remove the popsicles. You don't have to thaw them, they just pop right out.
    • Use your favorite yogurt - while I used coconut yogurt, any type will work well for this recipe! You can opt for Greek yogurt or almond or cashew...whatever you like best.

    Storage

These yogurt popsicles need to be stored in the freezer or else the filling will melt. You can place them in a baggie and store them in the freezer for up to 6 months.

    FAQ

What's the best way to dip the yogurt bars in chocolate?

Melt the chocolate and coconut oil. Then place it in a tall glass that's wide enough to fit a popsicle. Dip the frozen yogurt bars into the melted chocolate and then place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet to set. Tip: freeze the baking sheet for at least 20 minutes so that it's cold and the chocolate sets faster.

Do I have to add the chocolate coating?

Nope! These bars are great without the chocolate coating - they're similar to a fudge bar.

Can I use something other than subutter?

Yes, any nut or seed butter will work instead. You could also use coconut cream (just the thick white part of a can of full fat coconut milk) in place of the sunbutter.

How do I make these yogurt popsicles keto?

For a keto version, swap the maple syrup for a sugar free sweetener and be sure to use a keto friendly dark chocolate for the coating.

    Description

Homemade chocolate yogurt popsicles with a fudgy filling and dark chocolate coating.  They're paleo, vegan, nut free and easily made keto.

    Ingredients

    Scale

    Filling

    • 1 cup yogurt (I used coconut yogurt, but any type will work)
    • ¼ cup sunbutter (or any nut/seed butter)
    • ¼ cup maple syrup
    • ¼ cup cocoa powder
    • 1 tsp vanilla extract
    • ⅛ tsp salt

    Coating (optional)

    • 1 cup dark chocolate chips
    • ½ Tbsp coconut oil

    Instructions

    1. In a large mixing bowl, combine all of the filling ingredients.  This includes the yogurt, sunbutter, maple syrup, cocoa powder, vanilla and salt.  Whisk until smooth.
    2. Pour the filling into your popsicle molds, filling each slot to the top.
    3. Add the popsicle sticks into each mold.
    4. Place the popsicles in your freezer (either on the baking sheet or on a flat surface in your freezer) overnight, or for at least 6 hours.
    5. Melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil.  Pour it into a small cup, just big enough to fit a popsicle.
    6. Remove the popsicles from their molds and dip them, one at a time, into the melted chocolate.
    7. Place the dipped popsicles on a parchment-lined baking sheet or plate to set.
    8. Store in an airtight baggie in the freezer, up to 6 months.
