How To Make Banana Yogurt Bites
Like I mentioned earlier, these frozen banana yogurt bites are super easy to make and take very little prep time. The hardest part is waiting for the yogurt covered bananas to freeze.
Here's what you need to do:
First, slice the ripe bananas into 1 inch pieces.
In a small bowl, mix together the yogurt and protein powder.
Grab the banana slices and dip them, one at a time into the yogurt mixture. Then place them on a parchment-lined baking sheet.
Once all of the banana slices have been coated, place them in the freezer for at least one hour to set.
Once they're frozen, melt the dark chocolate and coconut oil. You can melt them in the microwave at 20 second intervals, or on the stovetop at a low heat.
Grab the banana bites from the freezer and dip them into the melted chocolate. Place them back on the lined baking sheet and top them with your choice of toppings before the chocolate has set. Some fun toppings include: bee pollen (what I used), flaked salt, cinnamon, sprinkles or chopped nuts/seeds.
Storage
Keep these banana bites in a sealed baggie or airtight container in the freezer and enjoy within one month.
FAQ
Bananas are a nutritious snack and taste great frozen. Pair them with a source of protein and fat to decrease their impact on blood sugar. For instance, I paired these frozen banana bites with yogurt mixed with protein powder and coated them in extra dark chocolate.
No, you may omit the protein powder if you wish. However, the protein powder increases the protein content and adds a nice flavor.
Yes, any type of yogurt will work for this recipe. To keep these yogurt bites dairy free, I recommend coconut or almond based yogurts.
