Avocado toast is all the rage lately. And personally, I don't think it has anything to do with the toast, but rather the avocado. Avocado's are the perfect texture for creating food-fueled works of art. Although I haven't mastered many of the various techniques, I can make a pretty decent avocado rose. So today, I'm doing a step by step tutorial on how to make an avocado rose.
Long ago, when I shared mainly plates of food on Instagram rather than actual recipes, I was frequently asked: "how do you make an avocado rose?".
After years of making them, I feel like I have a pretty good grasp on avocado roses. So, I put together this basic photo tutorial.
I promise, making an avocado rose is actually pretty easy. All you need is a ripe avocado, flat surface and sharp knife...okay, and a little patience 😉 So, let's get started on this step-by-step avocado rose tutorial:
Step 1
First, select a ripe avocado. Look for one with skin that seems thin and is fairy smooth and unblemished.
Step 2
Next, slice the avocado in half.
Step 3
Peel one half of the avocado and set it face down on a cutting board.
Step 4
Next, slice the avocado into thin sections. Don't make them too thin or the avocado will be hard to work with and the sections will stick to the knife. But, at the same time, you want them thin enough that they can be easily shaped.
Step 5
Fan out avocado in a long, straight line.
Step 6
Then, pick a side and start rolling the avocado into a swirl. The starting point will be in the middle. Then, pick a side and start rolling the avocado into a swirl. The starting point will be in the middle.
Step 7
Lastly, sprinkle the rose with sesame seeds for a finished look.
And that's it - you've got your gorgeous avocado rose that looks complicated but is actually quite simple to make.
This avocado rose tutorial is super simple and will be sure to impress everyone when you make your own rose, especially plated with a full meal 😉
