Ninja Creami Pistachio Ice Cream (Dairy Free)

    Published: Aug 11, 2026 · by Katie

This Ninja Creami pistachio ice cream is thick and creamy with a sweet pistachio flavor. It's made with almond milk, shelled pistachios and protein powder. This Ninja Creami recipe is only 5 ingredients - all gluten free, dairy free and refined sugar free!

    Scoop of ice cream.

I've had so much fun testing various Ninja Creami ice cream flavors this summer! And this pistachio ice cream is one of my new favorites. I love blending in brownie chunks or topping it with melted chocolate.

This ice cream is made in a blender with almond milk, pistachios and protein powder. It's then frozen and spun in the Ninja Creami machine. I love how thick and creamy the ice cream turns out. I didn't add any dyes or colorings, but if you want the ice cream to have more of a green flavor you can mix in matcha powder or a few spinach leaves.

Why You'll Love this Pistachio Ice Cream

    • dairy free and paleo - made with almond milk, pistachios and a dairy free protein powder. No cream cheese and no whey protein.
    • refined sugar free - sweetened with the protein powder and honey.
    • thick and creamy - the texture is super thick and has a smooth consistency
    • great with mix-ins - feel free to mix in chopped chocolate, brownies, cookies or drizzle with hot fudge.

    Ingredients

The full recipe for this Ninja Creami pistachio ice cream can be found in the recipe card below, but here's an overview of the ingredients you'll need:

    • almond milk - I used unsweetened almond milk, but any type of milk will work
    • honey - a little for sweetness and flavor. You can swap honey for maple syrup if you'd prefer.
    • vanilla extract - for flavor
    • pistachios - I used salted pistachios that I shelled myself. If your pistachios are unsalted, then I recommend adding a pinch of salt to your ice cream.
    • protein powder - I used a vanilla beef protein isolate. However, you could use bone broth protein powder or vanilla collagen peptides instead.

How to Make Pistachio Ice Cream in the Ninja Creami

This pistachio ice cream is made in the Ninja Creami. You'll need a blender to blend together all of the ingredients, then a Creami pint to freeze the ice cream in. Once frozen, you'll blend the pint in the Ninja Creami machine.

Here's the step by step process:

    Ingredients in blender.
    1. Place all ice cream ingredients in a blender and blend until smooth.

    1. Once fully frozen, remove the lid and level the top of your ice cream using a metal spoon (if needed).

    Tips and Tricks

    • Don't fill above the max fill line: make sure not to overfill the container, as the ice cream expands when it's blended. You shouldn't have any issues if following this recipe exactly.
    • Fully freeze: you want your pint to be fully frozen for the best texture.
    • Level: before blending, make sure the top of the frozen ice cream is level. You can use a spoon to scrape off the hump and smooth the top.
    • Re-spins: if your ice cream isn’t smooth and creamy, re-spin the pint until you get your desired consistency.
    • Add mix-ins: this pistachio ice cream is a great base for mix-ins. Feel free to add chopped chocolate, brownie chunks, crushed cookie pieces or top with hot fudge.
Scoop of dairy free pistachio ice cream.

    Storage

Store leftovers in the creami pint, with the lid on top. Be sure to level off the ice cream before freezing so that you can re-spin it for next time.
