These crispy garlic parsnip fries are the perfect alternative to your average French fries. They're made with parsnips, seasoned with garlic and salt and roasted in the oven until crisp. These root veggie fries are paleo, vegan and whole30 approved!
While I'm a big fan of classic French fries, I love alternative options too, like these crispy garlic parsnip fries.
Parsnips are a great lower carb option for French fries. They have a naturally sweet flavor and crisp up perfectly in the oven.
This recipe for parsnip fries is seasoned with garlic and salt, then baked in the oven. The fries come out crisp on the outside with a tender center. They're great eaten as-is or with your favorite dipping sauce.

How to Make Crispy Parsnip Fries
- To make these fries, first preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
- Rinse parsnips and peel outer skin. Cut the parsnips into fry shapes. Be sure to remove and dispose of the inner core, as it tends to be woody and hard to eat.
- Place the parsnip fries in a mixing bowl and coat with avocado oil. Sprinkle with garlic and salt, then mix until well coated.
- Spread the fries out on a baking sheet. Make sure none of them are overlapping.
- Place the fries in your oven and bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes. Flip and then cook another 5-10 minutes more.
- Once the parsnip fries are done cooking, remove them from the oven and top with flaked salt (optional). Then serve warm with your favorite dipping sauce.
Storage
Place any leftovers in an airtight container and store in the fridge. You can enjoy leftovers cold or warm them in the oven, air fryer or toaster oven.
How to Eat Parsnip Fries
- Eat alone as a healthy snack, or serve as a side to any meal, such as paleo turkey burgers, chicken tenders, bison meatballs or alongside a salad.
