These whole30 turkey burgers are cooked in the oven, egg free, grain free and paleo friendly. This turkey burger recipe is great for an easy family dinner and goes well with a side of sweet potato fries.
You know, I never made a turkey burger until creating this recipe. But wow, these burgers are so delicious - flavorful, juicy and easy to make. I don't know why I hadn't attempted to make them before.
I got the idea for these whole30 turkey burgers after browsing through Butcher Box and updating my monthly order. (We get meat delivered monthly from Butcher Box.) I decided to switch things up and try their ground turkey. Boy am I glad I did!
I've made these burgers four times, both baked in the oven and cooked on a frying pan and both versions are amazing.
Recipe Highlights
Here's the run-down on this easy turkey burger recipe:
- paleo and whole30 approved
- grain free and gluten free
- egg free
- dairy free
- no added sugar
- oven baked
These turkey burgers are great for lunch or dinner. I love eating them as lettuce wraps (without a bun), topped with sliced avocado, onion and pickles and paired with a side of sweet potato fries.
Ingredients
This whole30 turkey burger recipe contains just 9 simple ingredients. Here's what you need:
- ground turkey
- shredded carrot
- onion
- garlic
- cassava flour
- salt
- cumin
- ginger
- red pepper flakes
The shredded carrots, onion and garlic add flavor, texture and nutrients to these turkey burgers. You can use freshly pressed garlic or 1 teaspoon garlic powder.
Cassava flour is added to help bind the ingredients and improve the burger texture. This ingredient can be left out or substituted with a gluten free flour blend.
How to Make Whole30 Turkey Burgers
This is the easiest turkey burger recipe! Here's what you need to do:
First, preheat your oven to 400 degrees F.
In a large mixing bowl, combine all ingredients except for the ground turkey. Then mix in the ground turkey with a spatula or wooden spoon.
Divide the turkey mixture into four equally sized pieces, then shape each into a burger. Note: the turkey IS messy and will stick to your hands. Place the burgers on a greased baking pan.
Then, place the burgers on the bottom rack of the oven and cook at 400 degrees for 15 minutes. After 15 minutes, flip the burgers and cook 10-15 more minutes or until done.
These whole30 burgers come out thick and juicy and they hold together well thanks to the addition of cassava flour.
What to Eat With Turkey Burgers
Turkey burgers are great with a side of fries, cauliflower rice, sautéed veggies and so much more.
My favorite whole30 pairings are either sweet potato fries (as pictured), plantain fries, air fryer green beans, or an Asian slaw salad.
Storage
Keep any leftovers in an air-tight container in the fridge. These burgers are best eaten within 5 days.

This is my favorite way to use ground turkey. Hope you all love the recipe!
Deborah
This was fabulous! I used a bit too much garlic (yes, that’s possible) more than called for because often turkey is so bland. This is great as it!!!! Nutritious. Easy. A keeper! Thanks so much!

I'm so glad you enjoyed them!

HI Katie, I just made it again but with ground chicken! (Just experimenting) I used a little less of the seasoning and found that chicken is gooey to work with…but the burgers were terrific! Thanks for your creative and delicious recipes! Deborah

Thank you Deborah! I haven't tried them with ground chicken but sounds like I need to 🙂
