I'm a sucker for a loaf of soft, tender banana bread and this 4 ingredient banana bread checks all the boxes!

It's made with just 4 ingredients (plus water, but I'm not counting that as an official ingredient), is only sweetened with bananas and is completely grain free and gluten free.

This loaf has a moist, soft texture and a delicious banana flavor. You can mix in cinnamon, vanilla and a pinch of salt for more flavor, but I love this loaf as-is.

Why You'll Love this 4 Ingredient Banana Bread

    • gluten free and grain free - made without flour and without oats
    • paleo friendly - made with just a few simple, whole food ingredients
    • dairy free - no butter or milk
    • easy to make - a simple, one bowl batter that's mixed, poured into a loaf pan and baked
    • no sugar added - only sweetened with bananas
    • kid approved - all my kids love this loaf. They'll eat it plain, or top a slice with sunbutter or jam.

    Ingredients

Just 4 ingredients (plus water) are needed to make this healthy banana bread.

    • ripe bananas - yellow with many brown spots

    Storage

This banana bread is best stored in a sealed container in the fridge. Enjoy within one week.

For longer storage, slice the cooled banana bread, wrap it in parchment paper and store it in an airtight bag in the freezer. It's best eaten within one month.

    Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my banana bread dense and not fluffy?

This particular banana bread is dense and moist, not fluffy and airy. That's just how it was formulated. I wanted something that was quick, easy and delicious with a moist texture.

    What mix-ins can I add?

You can mix in vanilla, cinnamon, ginger, nutmeg, ground clove, a pinch of salt or any of your favorite flavorings or spices. Some other options include chopped nuts, chocolate chips or dried fruit. For a sweeter loaf, feel free to add a tablespoon or two of honey or maple syrup.

Can I make this loaf into muffins instead?

Yes! To make these muffins, simply pour the batter into 12 slots of a lined muffin tin. Place in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 25 minutes.

How many calories are in one slice?

The entire loaf contains about 1,131 calories (40.2 g fat, 142 g carbs, 45.9 g protein). If cutting into 10 slices, then each slice would be about 113 calories. If making 12 muffins, each muffin would be about 94 calories.
