These hemp protein brownies are extremely rich and fudgy. They are made with hemp protein powder, dark chocolate and almond butter. This protein brownie recipe is paleo, gluten free and dairy free.
I love brownies and I love fudge and this recipe is basically a combo of the two!
These hemp protein brownies are thick and fudgy, with a rich chocolate flavor. Their texture is a mixture between brownies and fudge - my favorite!
Why You'll Love these Hemp Protein Brownies
- paleo friendly - this recipe for hemp protein brownies is made with minimally processed, real food ingredients
- gluten free and grain free - these are flourless protein brownies (made with a mixture of hemp protein and cacao powder)
- dairy free - these brownies don't use butter or milk and are made with dark chocolate chips
- packed with protein - they contain hemp protein powder for a boost in protein
This protein brownie recipe is one you'll want to make again and again - they're so good! Better yet, they're easy to make and are actually healthy as far as brownies go 😉
Ingredients
Here's what you need to make these hemp protein powder brownies:
- almond butter
- egg
- coconut oil
- vanilla extract
- hemp protein powder
- cacao powder
- coconut sugar
- salt
- dark chocolate (I used 85% dark)
I used my favorite hemp protein powder from Evo Hemp to make these brownies. Their protein powder is free from pesticides, fungicides and it's non-GMO. They also 3rd party test each batch to make sure they are providing the best quality products possible.
These hemp brownies have only been tested with cacao powder. I have not tried cocoa powder, but imagine it would work.
Any nut or seed butter should work in place of the almond butter, but will slightly change the brownie taste. I like almond butter because it has a pretty neutral in flavor.
How To Make Hemp Protein Brownies
These brownies are easy to make and bake in just 20 minutes. Here's what you need to do:
- Preheat your oven to 350 degrees F and line an 8" x 4" loaf pan with parchment paper.
- In a medium-sized mixing bowl, combine all wet ingredients.
- In another bowl, combine all dry ingredients.
- Pour the dry mixture into the wet mixture and mix until well combined.
- Melt the dark chocolate chips and pour them into the brownie batter. Mix until well combined. The batter will be thick (see photo below for reference).
- Place the brownie batter into the lined loaf pan. Use a spatula to flatten the batter, spreading it to all sides of the loaf pan.
- Lastly, place the brownies in the oven and bake at 350 degrees for 20 minutes.
- After baking, cool the brownies completely before cutting. To cool faster, place them in the fridge.
Storage
These hemp flour brownies can be kept in the fridge or freezer. Place them in an air-tight container or baggie and store in the fridge for up to two weeks, or the freezer for up to two months.
Tips For Making The Best Hemp Protein Brownies
- Measure the ingredients by weight - I provide the weight (given in grams) for important ingredients like the hemp protein and cacao powder. Using a small kitchen scale to measure these ingredients will ensure the best results.
- Use the listed ingredients - as much as I understand wanting to make swaps, I can't guarantee results if you're making ingredient substitutions.
- Bake the brownies in an 8" x 4" loaf pan - I've only tested these brownies in a loaf pan and using a different type or size of pan may change the bake time.
