This healthy strawberry banana smoothie is made without yogurt and is completely dairy free, paleo and vegan friendly! This nutritious smoothie is made with frozen strawberries, ripe bananas and contains hidden veggies such as cauliflower and beet root powder. It's an excellent smoothie for kids and adults.

It may still be the middle of winter, but I have been on a smoothie kick lately. And I don't see it stopping anytime soon!
This healthy strawberry banana smoothie (as well as my avocado chocolate smoothie) has made a frequent appearance at lunch. It's super easy to throw together, nutritious, delicious AND my kids love it.
I'm always looking for ways to get my kids to happily eat veggies that they don't love. For instance, the cauliflower in this recipe. This paleo strawberry smoothie does the trick since they all enjoy the flavor and texture.
This strawberry banana smoothie recipe is paleo and vegan friendly. It is made without yogurt and is completely dairy free. In addition, it contains hidden veggies like cauliflower and beet root powder. Furthermore, this smoothie is made with healthy fats from avocado and hemp seeds, which improve the taste, texture and nutrient content.
It's the perfect smoothie for sharing as a snack or eating on your own as a meal replacement.
Ingredients
Here's what you need to make this vegan strawberry banana smoothie:
- frozen strawberries
- ripe bananas
- cauliflower (steamed then frozen)
- avocado
- hemp seed
- beet root powder
- coconut milk (or any plant based milk)
Although this smoothie contains ingredients like cauliflower, avocado and hemp seed, you cannot taste anything except the strawberries and banana. Which makes this the ultimate strawberry banana smoothie for kids (and picky adults).
Are all of these ingredients required? No, you can remove or replace any of the ingredients except the strawberries and bananas. However, I don't recommend making this smoothie without avocado. The avocado really helps with texture, making the smoothie extra creamy.
How to Make a Strawberry Banana Smoothie Without Yogurt
You'll need a high powered blender or food processor to make this smoothie.
First, add all ingredients to the blender. Turn the blender on and blend the ingredients, starting at a low speed and gradually increasing the speed. Blend until smooth, stopping to scrape the sides when/if necessary.
If you want your smoothie to be thick and creamy, be sure to add the amount of coconut milk required in the recipe. For a thinner, more drinkable smoothie, increase the amount of coconut milk.
Next, pour the smoothie into a couple bowls or cups. Add your favorite toppings and serve immediately.
Smoothie Mix-Ins and Toppings
While I topped this dairy free strawberry banana smoothie with hemp seeds, goji berries, pumpkin seeds and bee pollen, there are so many other great options. Here are some more mix-ins or topping suggestions:
- Add more hidden veggies: zucchini, peeled cucumber, spinach
- Increase the nutrient content: blend in chia seeds, ground flax, superfood powders or nut butter
- Up the protein content: blend in your favorite protein powder or collagen peptides
- Sweeten: blend dates, maple syrup or honey into the smoothie
- Add toppings: coconut butter, cacao nibs, bee pollen, nuts and seeds, grain free cereal, dried fruit, etc.
